ELECTION PROCESS STARTS FOR WESTGATE-ON-SEA WARD


The process to fill a vacancy on Thanet District Council following the
sad death of Cllr Brian Goodwin has started.

If the election is contested (if there is more than one candidate) then
an election to fill the vacancy will be held on Thursday 5 July 2012.

Polling will take place at Christ Church Hall, Westgate Bay Avenue,
Westgate, and Westgate Community Centre, Lymington Road, Westgate. 
Electors will be able to identify which polling station to vote at from
information on their poll cards. The hours of poll will be 7am until
10pm.

Those electors whose names appear on the Westgate-on-Sea Ward Register
of Electors will be able to vote at this election.  Residents wishing to
check if their name has been included on the Register of Electors or
requiring a form to be registered should contact the council on 01843
577500.

The deadline for the receipt of applications to be registered as an
elector for this election is Wednesday 20 June 2012.

The deadlines for the receipt of completed absent voting applications
are:

● New postal voter - 5.00pm on Wednesday 20 June 2012;

● New proxy voter - 5.00pm on Wednesday 27 June 2012.

Application forms for the absent voting facilities or applications to
be registered as an elector are available by contacting the Electoral
Registration Officer on 01843 577500 or at
electoral.services@thanet.gov.uk.
