Your Leisure introduces new Hydraulic bed for ease of access

Thanet District Council (TDC) is committed to improving access for all members of the community to leisure centre facilities across the district. As part of this, TDC has purchased a new hydraulic bed for the disabled changing room at Hartsdown Leisure Centre.
The bed uses hydraulic linkages to alter its height which can be controlled by an assistant to enable ease of usage and comfort.
The Hartsdown Leisure Centre is operated by Your Leisure on behalf of the council and provides disabled swimmers access at any time. It offers a concessionary rate for disabled swimmers (with a leisure card, £2.10; without, £3.00 per session) and this includes entry for a helper as well. The centre is open from Monday-Friday 6.00am-11.00pm Saturday-Sunday 7.00am-10.00pm.
Madeline Homer, Director of Community Services at Thanet District Council, said; “The benefits associated with regular exercise and being active are not just physical but contribute to overall wellbeing and the quality of life across a very wide spectrum. The new hydraulic changing bed will hopefully go some way towards providing these long term benefits by easing accessibility to these activities.”
Warren Reeves, Head of Operations for Your Leisure added; “This is a great addition to Hartsdown Leisure Centre and will provide even greater access to both the swimming and sports hall facilities for those who need it. Through our partnership work with Thanet District Council and other organisations such as the Skillnet Group we continue to strive to ease access to as many activities as possible for all members of the local community.”
