Census count begins

Questionnaires for the Census 2011 are set to be delivered to every home in Thanet.

Yours will be arriving soon, so look out for it and complete it online or on paper before, on or as soon as possible after Sunday 27 March 2011.

The Census is undertaken by the Office for National Statistics and all information provided is confidential. The Census results will have a direct bearing on the government support Thanet receives to fund public services. This includes things like school places, housing, roads, emergency services and a host of other local services, so it is vital that everyone in Thanet takes part.

Look out for the purple and white envelopes which will be posted to you over the next few weeks. By Census day Sunday 27 March every household will have one. Once the form arrives it can be completed online by going to www.census.gov.uk or you can still complete this by hand if you prefer.

It is a requirement by law to complete the Census and for any help completing the forms, Thanet residents will have an opportunity to attend completion sessions which are being organised by the Census Area Officers.

If you have not returned your questionnaire by Wednesday 6 April, a census collector will call after that date to offer any help you need.
