EASTER ACTIVITIES OUT ON THE COAST

Toddle on the Beach in Ramsgate, Egg Case Hunts in Margate and Broadstairs and fun times at a Beach Blast in Margate are on offer to local people this Easter.

The Thanet Coast Project has a range of activities planned over the next few weeks, starting with a Toddle on the Beach at Ramsgate Main Sands on Monday 11 April between 11am and 1pm. As the name suggests, it’s aimed at toddlers and their parents.

The next day, on Tuesday 12 April, you can hunt for shark egg cases and join in with storytelling activities at Westbrook from 11am. If you can’t make that, there are more Thornback Tales Egg Case Hunts on Wednesday 13 April at Dumpton Gap at the same time.

If your youngster is short of things to do over the Easter holidays, there’s no excuse to be bored on Thursday 14 April, with the Beach Blast Fun Day at Margate Main Sands. Running from 1pm until 5pm, it’s aimed at those between the ages of five and 18 and includes a Rocky Shore Safari between 2pm and 3.30pm. There will also be volleyball, beach football, tug of war, lifeguard games, acoustic guitar sessions and Easter craft activities.

The week of activities concludes with a Rock Doc Walk on Sunday 17 April, around Pegwell Bay, starting at 11am.

For those who want to get out on the water, the following week, Horizon Sea Safaris are offering Easter specials, taking people out to see the world’s largest offshore wind farm, just off the coast of Thanet or a seal safari. Excursions, costing £15 to see the wind farm or £13 to visit the seals, run over the Easter weekend from Friday 22 April until Monday 25 April and can be booked and paid for at www.thanetcoast.org.uk

Thanet Coast Project Assistant, Suzie Hooper, said: “This Easter, as ever, the Thanet Coast Project has a wide range of activities taking place along our internationally important shoreline to help introduce people to the huge variety of wildlife and habitats we have here. The best way to learn is often through having fun and that’s exactly what these events give you the chance to do.”

To find out more about all these activities and to book, please visit the Thanet Coast Project website at www.thanetcoast.org.uk or call 01843 577672.

  2. Some of us work anti-social hours (evenings, weekends & bank holidays) so that people like YOU can enjoy yourself... our "rest" time is during week daytimes!
