The Rainbow Ward at the QEQM hospital in Margate is set to benefit from a very special charity football match, due to be held at Dane Park.
Thanet District Council's Sport 4 NRG team will be taking on Pipeline to raise money for the charity on Wednesday 16 June at 4pm. The game is due to finish at around 6pm, unless it is a draw, in which case, a penalty shootout will decide the winners.
Pie Factory Music will be providing the South African beats to get everyone in the spirit of the World Cup and will also be putting forward some players for the game. There will be giant games available for the spectators to play.
Every player will be paying £5 to play, which will go to the charity and there will be a collection on the day.
Sports Trainee Gary Jones said: "We want local people to get involved and help raise money for a great local cause. This match will be a fantastic community event and we hope that lots of people will turn out to watch a great game and support the Rainbow Ward. With the volunteers from both Sport 4 NRG and Pipeline taking part, it will also be a great opportunity for them to show up their sports leaders and youth worker colleagues. I'm sure there will be one or two incidents of one-upmanship occurring during the game!"
