Thanet District Council’s new leader, Cllr. Clive Hart, has named his new Cabinet and has spoken about his aims for the council.
Cllr. Hart was elected at a full meeting of Council last night (Thursday 8 December), after a Notice of Motion was passed to remove the previous Leader, Cllr. Bob Bayford, from the position.
Cllr. Hart said: “I’d like to thank Cllr. Bayford for all his hard work and service as the Leader of the Council. He’s exceptionally well respected and there was nothing personal in this. Although the change has literally happened overnight, I will be working with my colleagues to ensure as much continuity as possible between the two administrations. As we move forward, I hope we can become a more listening council and I’ll be striving for genuine consultation where it’s needed. I want the council to be as transparent as possible in the decisions it takes and I can assure residents that I’ll be pushing to minimise cuts to our funding.”
