CELEBRITY EXCLUSIVE FOR YOUTH MATTERS

Find out what Gary Rhodes uses to keep his hair spiky and if he would open a restaurant in Broadstairs in an exclusive interview for the Youth Matters website.

The Youth Matters website at http://www.thanetyouthmatters.co.uk/ask_the_expert.aspx features the exclusive interview with Gary Rhodes, who returned to the area to judge Thanet College's National Junior Chef Competition. He was filmed and photographed by two budding young journalists Hollie Childs (15) and Mike Philpot (19).

Hollie and Mike are part of the Youth Matters editorial board, made up of ten members who help write, photograph and model for the magazine and website. They were able to watch the final cook offs between the young chefs competing in the competition, the judging of the final and then enjoyed a delicious meal in the Thanet College's restaurant.

The Youth Matters teams were given exclusive backstage access to interview, photograph and film Gary Rhodes, which was arranged by the college's marketing department.

Hollie Childs said: "Meeting a celeb such as Gary Rhodes, being able to photograph and interview him at my age has really inspired me to carry on and pursue this as a career. Gary is a very nice person and really friendly to talk to. I enjoyed meeting him and hope he enjoyed my interview."

Youth Matters is a project run by Thanet District Council, in partnership with Engage, which incorporates the YM magazine. This is produced four times a year and distributed through local secondary schools. There is also a website, which promotes all the youth events and news for Thanet.
