Cllr Driver leaves TIG

I was astounded to find out via the Thanet District Council public web site that Councillor Ian Driver has left the Thanet Independent Group to join Cllr King’s Independent Group. I have been concerned for weeks, due to Cllr Driver’s failure to respond to my emails and voice messages, and I am both surprised and shocked that he has not had the common courtesy to tender his resignation in writing.
Despite this, however, I would like to thank him for his contribution to the Thanet Independent Group, and I wish him and his new ‘team’well. I hope that he will encourage them to support his flagship issues, such as Live Animal Exports, Race Relations and LGBT Equality.
Councillor John Worrow
Thanet Independent Group Leader

  1. For once we totally agree, Peter. Does that make TIG a TI now as I think a group needs three? See JW still misses the plot about local government which is mainly to see that our dustbins are emptied.

  2. I didn't quite realise the implications for Labour until I just read Simon's post. I just hope the fall out and inevitable squabbles doesn't mean that Thanet's problems (whether live animal exports or dustbins being emptied) are ignored even more!

  4. I would suggest, Cllr Worrow, that yours was not something from which someone needed to resign. In fact, if you use the term "Independent" then surely you, by definition, don't belong to a group. Or is a command of English now one of the things against which you will campaign? One senses that the bubble is about to burst.
