The number of letters and emails, that I have received over the last few days, have been greater than usual.
Many of them have been from residents asking me to continue as a District Councillor.
But I have also had quite a lot from animal lovers, in Birchington and other parts of Thanet, who are concerned about the amount of money being spent on policing at the port of Ramsgate.
I can only put this down to the excellent article in the Thanet Gazette last Friday.
It is for this reason that I will be putting the following question to the Chairman of the OSP.
THANET DISTRICT COUNCIL MEETING, THURSDAY 7th FEBUARY, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
"Would Cllr Driver consider inviting the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Barnes to an Overview and Scrutiny Panel meeting, in order to answer questions about the policing arrangements regarding Live Animal Exports at the Port Of Ramsgate."
Does anyone think that the Police Commissioner cares about Thanet?
ReplyDeleteYes, Ann Barnes can be trusted because shes not a Thanet Tory.
DeleteI hear Ann Barnes wanted to join the Thanet Tories but she was rejected because she doesnt drink when driving and likes gay people.
I think the seat that she wanted was given to Sandy Ezekiel because they needed someone that can keep secrets
I'm sure Worrow already knows the answer to that. Coincidentally the Facebook Group for Stop Live Exports at Ramsgate are today calling for the public to email Ian Driver demanding an investigation into policing at Ramsgate.
ReplyDeleteHow would you know James, do you sleep with Councillor Worrow?
DeleteYes, I'm sleeping with John Worrow.
DeleteI think it's fair to note that the person asking for mails to be sent to Driver is in fact Driver.
DeleteSo we have the entertaining situation where Driver has established another bandwagon to leap on, has decided he wants to have an enquiry, so tells people to mail him, to persuade him to have the enquiry he wants to have, that he could have set up without receiving the mails he asked people to send him, asking for the enquiry he wanted to have...
Then we have Worrow, asking Driver to setup an enquiry, in the using the exact wording that Driver had asked people to use! Priceless! This is tantermount to fraud, and Driver really should consider his position!
There was a FAR simpler way to do this, simply hold the enquiry, the only issue then would have been Driver not getting enough exposure in the press ;-)
Driver denied that was the case when I made that point to him. Multiple FB users (including Driver) have access to the Facebook login for the Group so despite Driver's denial, its entirely possible.
DeleteWhile I accept his argument that if he receives correspondence asking for Scrutiny to look into matters of public (and TDC) interest he should look to do so, this has more than a whiff of him using Council resources to further his own personal campaigns.
Not sure where this one is going, or who has asked him to look into what, an aspect to Ian Driver is he has very visible presence of being about in Ramsgate and if you ask him to look into something he does tend to follow it up and come back to you.
DeleteI don’t know what other people have done, I did however point out to him that while there was very little evidence of a police presence on streets in Ramsgate, particularly of an evening when there is a fair amount of anti social behaviour, the police often seem to outnumber the protestors at the port.

DeleteWhilst;
Delete"While I accept his argument that if he receives correspondence asking for Scrutiny to look into matters of public (and TDC) interest he should look to do so, this has more than a whiff of him using Council resources to further his own personal campaigns"
is perfectly correct, I would suggest that the argument that many constituents asked him to carry out an investigation into something which is not part of TDC's remit, when he told them to mail him and make the request! That is akin to a doctor being left an old lady's estate, having asked her to leave it to him!
I think the word "immoral" springs to mind
Maybe you should join Ian, John and other councillors at the port instead of being so negative councillor maskell!
ReplyDeleteJames Maskell is a Conservative Councillor Candidate and we all know that Thanet Council Tories support the exporters, unlike the lovely Laura Sandys
DeleteConsultation is a good thing and facebook is good because it saves the Council money.
DeleteThanet Tories like James Maskell can only attack other people.
Instead of supporting thedriving when pissed, leaving nasty voice mail and supporting the animal exporters, Thanet Conservatives should get down the port and support the protesters
Same old stuck in the groove record from some Labourite. Surprised you did not manage to get cat murdering into it as well.
DeleteIn case you had not noticed amongst Labour councillors we have had a hard working and intellectual one kicked into touch because he might be ambitious and a threat to the leader, one defect to independent (twice), another invited a colleague outside at a group meeting whilst a very senior one engaged in homophobic rants on his blogsite. The biggest crime, however, is the selling down the river of the governance of Thanet to a one cause turncoat in order to gain and cling to power.
It may have escaped your attention, but showers are not confined to the right or left of the road.
So sving public spending is a labourite thing is it, Ren Wood you brain washed sheep
DeleteHow sweetly pathetic you are, 16:16, and so predictable with the name calling.
DeleteCllr Worrow needs to get up to speed with which committee deals with police scrutiny. In Kent its the Kent and Medway Police and Crime Panel (care of KCC). The next meeting is on 19th Feb and questions must be submitted by the 5th.
ReplyDeleteThe Thanet District Council OSP has enough to do looking into the affairs of TDC without going outside of their remit to question Kent Police.
Another example of a TDC councillor trying to score points and in this case it makes him looks very ignorant in how TDC committees work and what their terms of reference are.
Things are changing dear Sheep
Delete"...Many of them have been from residents asking me to continue as a District Councillor" Really ?? Oh come on I think that's unlikely, but if true they deserve all they get.
ReplyDeleteThe day he quits can't come soon enough.
DeleteYou will be dust before happens that old dinosaur
DeleteI love Cllr Worrow he brings out the hidden prejudices of the dinosaurs. Don't worry John most of them are old and will only be around for a few more years, if they are lucky!
DeleteAnd there was me thinking that wishing death on people was something only Tories did to Gays. How wrong can you get.
DeleteOne of the ways the ruling Labour group tried to live with Cllr Drivers approach at OSP has been to encourage him to pay attention to other public bodies - KCC, NHS, Southern Water etc etc which whilst they have real relevance to thelives of local residents, are not truly under TDC control or scrutiny. The advantage of course, is if the OSP is overloaded with this work, they have little time and effort left for their real job, scutinising TDC. Like the Labour run TDC appointment of a £90,000 director, now paid off after 6 months; or the pay review for lower paid staff; the disastrous consequences of poor parking policies; the accurate costings of the reopened Ramsgate Maritime Museum etc etc. It would appear - only coincidence I am sure - that Cllr Worrow is once again doing Labours dirty work.....
ReplyDeleteMr Wells, what is dirty about asking why taxpaxers money is spent this way.
DeleteAnd as for the robot saying its in the remit of some do-nothing Tory Quango thats a total joke.
If anyone needs to make up for lost SRA they should become a Town Clerk!
Wasn't Wells in charge of the airport fines and pollution before being replaced? As a senior KCC member he must anyway know details of how the public have been polluted?
DeleteYes, Chris Wells in his attempt to score points comment says the obvious, that the OSP should be looking at TDC issues. What I dont understand is why when he was in power the Pleasurama project was not questioned in detail by the OSP and TDC would now not have this dilimma. Could it be that the previous chairmen of the OSP have been slack and in effecive. Maybe cllr Wells can tell us who these chairmen were?
ReplyDeleteAnn Barnes is an idependent you silly person, so why would he be trying to score points?. Its a question about Thanet and it needs to be asked

Someone has been talking out of turn!
DeleteHamberger has been paidoff after 6 months? For a £90k salary- when will we have FOI of all TDC salaries. And an inquiry into the 0% fraud. They seem overpaid and incompetent and lots of them.
DeleteYou can wait for the 2012/13 accounts to be published to find out how much he and others were paid.
DeleteBut clearly Mr "value" Hamberger was not the package that TDC thought but a simple google search would have told them that.
Agreed 13:08 another useless TDC hiring. What's the outline cost? £80k plus car and expenses and pension? TDC aren't noted for accurate accounts - quite the opposite with 0% salary fraud.
DeleteFOI requires all public sector costs within 20 days not 12 months?
KCC paying c.500 staff £50k or more - the 2nd highest in Britain.
DeleteMore should be sacked, and ludicrous £200k salaries and payoffs and hidden FOI- which KCC councillor will pledge to make these changes before the May elections?
http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/home/2013/february/20/kcc_middle_managers.aspx
My, what an unhappy person you are 16:50. Did nobody ever offer you a nice fat salary. Shame, so you have a good sulk and then turn out in May to make a difference with your vote.
DeleteSo Peter Dillon, you're in favour of KCC being one of the worst in UK? And why shouldn't councillors pledge to end this in May? I can't imagine a more foolish view.
DeleteSomebody has let the dreaded aquifer man out of his cage again. It is the dismissal of all others as either foolish or stupid that gives you away. However, on your thread, how do you predict the May elections turning out? Are the revolutionaries going to take control of county hall perhaps? Maybe we will finish up with monitors on every rooftop!
DeleteMonitors at Manston would be good questions for County councillors to answer. You've failed to explain the aquifer pollution.
DeleteWhat you'll see in May is more rigorous questioning of councillors on Pleasurama (though that's largely a dead duck now) and Thor and MOD pollution, and FOI costs at KCC and TDC. I doubt any doublehatters will pledge to retain both seats/salaries.
Rather than your pointless posts, make yourself useful and tell us how how many monitors are there now at Manston and the latest pollution reports? And how many County doublehatters?
When you start answering my questions, sunshine, I will start answering yours. Meantime you rant about your aquifers and monitors to your hearts content.
DeleteYou have no questions Tom only pointless posts. Aside from the aquifer pollution and TDC and Infratil removing monitors, we were discussing the KCC elections this May and doublehatters. You don't need to comment further while adults debate.
