LEARN ABOUT THE GATEWAY PLUS

Local people are being urged to attend an event this month so they can find out more about Thanet’s Gateway Plus.
Know Your Gateway 2012 is taking place on Wednesday 24 October between 10:00am and 2:00pm, and promises to be informative and educational by highlighting Gateway services residents can access. And in a break from tradition, the event is being held in the newly-refurbished Broadstairs Library.
Representatives from an array of different groups – including the NHS – will be available on the day, providing information about their services and their links with the Gateway. Other groups represented at the event include the young people’s guidance service Connexions, East Kent College and local Children’s Centres.
NHS health trainers will also be on hand to offer advice, along with NHS smoking cessation advisors and representatives of the Shaw Trust – the organisation that supports disabled and disadvantaged people prepare for work.
Matthew Munson, Front of House Coordinator for Thanet Gateway, said: “We want to let our community know who works with Gateway and how the many organisations could help them.
“The Gateway has been open for nearly five years and, during that time, we’ve worked closely with local businesses, charities and voluntary organisations to ensure that the services we offer are what local people need. With Broadstairs Library having its official reopening during the same week, it made excellent sense to join forces and celebrate good customer services in Thanet.”
Thanet’s Gateway Plus is located in Cecil Street, next to the council offices in Margate. It’s open on weekdays from 9:00 am to 6:00pm, with late opening until 8:00 pm on Thursday nights. The Gateway Plus is also open on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Broadstairs Library is located on the Broadway, Broadstairs, CT10 2BS.
