WILL SCOBIE

Statement by Clive Hart - Labour TDC Leader.

I am delighted that South Thanet Labour have selected Will Scobie as our parliamentary candidate for the next general election.

Will joined us at TDC in 2011 and his drive and commitment helped Thanet Labour to secure an increased representation at district level.

As Mayor of Margate 2012 to 2013 he proved 'age prejudiced' doubters completely wrong and had an outstanding year as the towns civic head.

Despite his relative youth, Will has been active in politics for many years now and has worked in several high level political offices whilst studying for his Master's Degree in Politics.

I've known Will and his lovely family as friends for many years and I've enjoyed a hearty Saturday breakfast with him for the past few years. In addition to our District and Labour Party duties, we have a great deal in common. He's a fellow member of the Fabian Society and the Unite Trade Union and he works closely with my wife on numerous ward issues. He is also Chair of the Dane Valley Community First Panel on which my wife also sits. I know from personal experience that Will is a committed and articulate individual whose heart is absolutely in the right place.

Will is very much the future of our local party and he is going to be a formidable candidate for the next general election.

It's onwards and upwards for the Labour Party here in Thanet!

Cllr Clive Hart - TDC Leader.

  1. Whilst respecting the Thanet Labour's right to select any candidate of their choosing, this decision is a bit hypocritical after all the screaming by them a few years back when they claimed Laura Sandys had been parachuted into the constituency. This rather begs the question, why is Will not standing in Thanet North where he grew up, is a councillor and has been mayor of Margate or is that still regarded as solid Gale country.

Perhaps Will is about to buy a house in South Thanet and make it his home, as Laura has done, or does his relationship with Jodie qualify him by association.

  2. This Press release is more about Mrs Hart than it is of Will coupled with how wonderful Clive Hart is as leader, hope he continues to have good breakfasts as this is obviously an important issue.

  3. Thank goodness Cllr Epps doesn't post on political issues as he tells us. Then waffles on about Will as a parachute candidate from Margate rather than Laura from Pimlico.

Will's too junior to be an MP and has said nothing about TDC corruption and incompetence still flourishing under Clive. When will the boy speak up?

  4. "He's too young", "He's suit doesn't fit", "He eats breakfast on saturdays"... if only these were all the worse we could say about Ezekiel, Moores, Watt-Ruffell and all the others!

    1. Anon 0% your continued comments about the 0% issue is spam, take it elsewhere.

    2. Why is 0% spam Michael? It refers to council problems such as Pleasurama which you repeatedly blog on. Why is Pleasurama not spam on that basis?

    3. 0% the subject is spam because you have made it spam by spamming it on every significant post on the Thanet blogs, I assume you have you own reasons for rubbishing what to me is a significant local issue, but yes please take you comments away from here, or comment about the post’s subject.

Obviously I wouldn’t wish to turn an important issue like Pleasurama into spam by making out of context comments about it all over the Thanet blogs, however someone benefiting from what looks like land banking there would benefit from doing so.

    4. Your post is very contradictory if not incoherent Michael. The 0% fraud is only mentioned here - and was in context with the councillor's role/silence. It has been mentioned on other blogs - just as you have done with Pleasurama.

Then seemingly dismissing the 0% fraud as not worth discussing, you say it's an important local issue? Which is it?

I agree Pleasurama is important partly for the corruption element as with the 0% fraud. Arguably 0% is worse in being so blatant and an ongoing coverup in refusing to provide payroll slips under FOI as happened with Cllr Driver and Pleasurama.

  6. Scobie lives in Thanet, not PRESTON like Gale, but more importantly he was born in Thanet, unlike Sandys and Farage
