As Conservative  leader of KCC, I feel that you should know of the alleged  threatening behaviour of one of your Group Leaders ,Kent Count Councillor Roger Latchford .

Enclosed is a copy of an e-mail from a former Independent member of Thanet District Council Standards Committee,

namely Jo Pearman, originally sent to Robin Hills the former Chairman of that Committee who passed it on to TDC

Monitoring Officer Harvey Patterson.

Considering the position Cllr Latchford holds in your Council  I do wonder what action you may consider from the information supplied?

I am certain that that you do not endorse alleged threatening behaviour.

The Hate Crime Panel (Kent Uni Questions)

Kent's IPCC Ann Barnes will be among the panellists to discuss hate crime at a Question Time style event at Kent University,Canterbury, next month.

 

The Hate Crime Panel will discuss the controversial issue as the event for this year's International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia on May 15th.

 

Also on the panel will be Baroness Hamwee, former Liberal Democrat London Assembly member and Co--Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party Committee on Home Affairs,Justice and Equalities and Thanet Independent Group Leader Councillor John Worrow, himself subject of hate crime.

NOTICE OF LIVE ANIMAL EXPORT QUESTION FROM COUNCILLOR WORROW TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE OVERVIEW OF SCRUTINY PANEL

The number of letters and emails, that I have received  over the last few days, have been greater than usual.
Many of them have been from residents asking me to continue as a District Councillor.
But I have also had quite a lot from animal lovers, in Birchington and other parts of Thanet, who are concerned about the amount of money being spent on policing at the port of Ramsgate.

 I can only put this down to the excellent article in the Thanet Gazette last Friday.
It is for this reason that I will be putting the following question to the Chairman of the OSP.

THANET DISTRICT COUNCIL MEETING, THURSDAY 7th FEBUARY, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

"Would Cllr Driver consider inviting the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Barnes to an Overview and Scrutiny Panel meeting, in order to answer questions about the policing arrangements regarding Live Animal Exports at the Port Of Ramsgate."

A Thanet councillor recently found guilty of a drink driving offence remains a member of the local Authority's Licencing Board despite being reported to the Council's standards committee. Committee members decided that Cllr Mrs Tomlinson did not breach the code of conduct, saying that the licencing board member was “Acting in her private Capacity” Independent Councillor John Worrow, who complained to the standards committee said that some members of the Standards Committee have been making some very questionable decisions recently.

Thanet Independent Leader's Statement about Letters

Due to the press releases recently made by both the Leader of Thanet District Council and Cllr Ian Driver, including the publication of a letter by Cllr Driver , that was originally sent to his independent colleagues, I feel it is in the public interest to publish the following letter sent to Cllr Driver prior to the  retraction of his  statement calling for the Chairman of Thanet District Council to resign.

Dear Ian ,

We are most unhappy, uncomfortable and concerned with your presentations at the Full Council Meeting of TDC 6th December 2012.

We feel that the almost monotonous recurrence of various provocative events, that you engineer, are harmful to our group and personal reputations as well as the stability of our Council in which we play vital roles and owe our loyalty to ensure that normal business is able to continue . Anything less becomes irresponsible.

Earlier in our association, we agreed that any controversial policy statements would be the subject of discussion amongst all three of us prior to any action or publication.

Unfortunately you have not honoured our agreement.

Naturally, this is an unacceptable practice and should it reoccur, you will automatically eliminate yourself from our group.
