DON’T FORGET TO MAKE IT COUNT

It’s not too late to Make it Count and have your say on how the council spends your money, with a drop-in session taking place next week (Wednesday 19 January) at Westwood Cross.

The consultation, launched in December 2010, asks people where the council’s limited resources should be targeted in Thanet over the next financial year, which starts in April. The council is going to have to spend almost a quarter less over the next two years, because of reductions in the grant it receives from the government.

More than 200 people have already given their views since the consultation started. People can give their views and fill out a questionnaire by coming along to the Safety on our Streets (SOS) trailer on Wednesday 19 January from 10.00am to 3.00pm.

Surveys are also available online at the council’s website at www.thanet.gov.uk/budget and printed copies can be picked up from local libraries and council offices. They can also be requested by calling 01843 577120 or e-mailing consultation@thanet.gov.uk The budget consultation questionnaire has also been sent out to local community groups and members of the council’s residents’ panel, Community Matters, for them to give their views.

The consultation is open until Friday 21 January 2011.
