ANTI-RACISM SHOW GOES ON DESPITE DISASTER

The show go on!

Margate's first Love Music, Hate Racism music festival will take place this Saturday September 11th -- despite losing its stage.
Just ten days before the day of the festival, disaster struck as its event stage was destroyed in gale force winds.
The organising committee went into action to find a replacement, and were phoning companies from Exeter to Edinburgh with no success.
"We were desperate to find a stage to ensure the festival goes ahead." said event organiser Bunny Laroche "Then at literally the last gasp we found a Kent based company who could help. A couple of hours later a new stage was booked, and it's bigger and better too".

The show will begin at 12 noon on Saturday and will bring to Margate a fresh and multi cultural celebration of music and diversity. Local bands will be playing and local schools and colleges have taken part in making the event happen.

The festival features international performer Lowkey along with Colt 44, Dimitri, Spookasonic, Neil Sparkes and the Bougarabou, Drifta, Mic Righteous and many more.

Lowkey will not only be performing but handing out certificates to the local schools involved in a banner making competition for the festival.
The main stage will be on the Piazza, Margate seafront, with an acoustic stage now located at the Westcoast Bar, nearby.
But the organising committee now has another headache. Bunny said: "Unfortunately the new stage will be costing more than twice as much as the one we booked through the Council. We have had very generous support from the NUT and other local trade unions, and now we have to quickly raise a further £1000 to make sure the festival goes ahead. "

Bunny added: "An emergency appeal has been launched, and donations from organisations or individuals are very welcome."
