Sporting activities include swimming, golf and cycling. Sunday includes a charity bike ride for the British Heart Foundation. More information can be found on www.bhf.org.uk. If you are interested in continuing with these activities on a regular basis, Thanet Park runs always start at 9am on Saturdays from the Brown Shelter, 5th Avenue, Cliftonville or at Pegwell Bay’s Country Park.
Cllr Iris Johnston, Cabinet Member for Community Services said: “MOVE Week is a celebration of active lifestyle, sport and physical activities.
The Sports Development team are working very hard at get residents of Thanet interested in sport and physical exercise and doing their bit to keep active.”
This is the second year that Move Week has taken place. In 2012 more than 100 events were held in 23 countries with approximately 140,000 participants. The vision is to have 100 million more people in the UK active in sport and physical activity by 2020.

Good to see the Council publicising the Parkrun events, eventually. To clarify, the Margate event isn't organised by the Council. It was set up by a member of the public in April, after being inspired by the Whitstable version and is in fact organised and run by volunteers. The Council would do well to add links for the two Parkrun sites direct rather than the homepage for the whole thing, as well as changing the bit on the TDC site referring to the Cliftonville Bandstand, that is not the start.
ReplyDeleteI too hope to see a Councillor at Parkrun sometime. Dont hold your breath though...
