OCCUPY THANET TO TAKE ACTION THIS SATURDAY

Occupy Thanet are planning a special "event" for this Saturday March 3rd.

In January, inspired by the global Occupy Movement, a group of Thanet people occupied a location outside the Turner Contemporary Gallery.

They have been in continual occupation ever since, despite snow and gales.

This Saturday they are going to take part in a demonstration -- to be revealed on the day.

Supporters are assembling at 11am Saturday March 3rd outside Arlington House, All Saints Ave, Margate CT9 1XS

    1. The idiots are the people who take no interest in or action against a minority in power creating punitive legislation, blighting communities etc.

  2. 10 days before the Public Inquiry into Arlington Tescos. While the protest is perhaps worthwhile for those participating, in reality it will have absolutely no bearing at all on the Inquiry.

  3. I see the usual apathetic negative people making comments on this blog, this is why Margate is such a mess as nobody cares, good for the occupy people, at least there are some brave enough to stand up and say enough is enough!

    1. Hear, hear! Too many generations since Thatchers mass social engineering, have no understanding or sense of history. I am delighted to see young people engaging again and learning a great deal through their action and concern. It has reminded many of us who frankly are worn out and have been defeated by selfish idiots and 3 decades of government by the "out of touch", of our core hopes for all people in our society. Good luck to them all!

  4. No Anon, Margate is a mess because people oppose any company that wants to invest in the area!

    2. Which companies want to invest in the area...tell us what you know!

    3. the companies that want to invest in the area are the same companies that drive business away from the area and destroy small businesses, big companies such as tesco are the root of the problem, they are the poison and the antidote...

  6. The real answer to Occupy is Napalm. Quick, decisive, saves a fortune in coiurt proceedings and leaves very little to clear up afterwards. It also sterilises the syringes and needles.

    1. You unpleasant ignorant psychopath, you don't even understand the question!

    2. And by resorting to such language you demonstrate your greater grasp, Anon 1:11. You are having a laugh I hope, old chap, otherwise you are in danger of mentally perishing within your own hatred of a system. If you don't like it drop out on some remote island with your chums and barter amongst yourselves for the things you have made or grown. Mind you, there would be no giro cheque there!

    3. @02:21am "old chap" you have made a series of assumptions that I'm male, unemployed, consumed by hate and with a proclivity to mental illness, etc..One thing is clear you still don't understand the question, and possibly you never will. Even suggesting Napalm in any offensive or aggressive context shows your complete inhumanity and bigotry. No doubt you find great comfort in reading the Daily Mail, Daily Express or perhaps occasionally the Times and Telegraph. Your security, self-confidence and values are illusory and based on a dying democracy, and a completely flawed capitalist system, as shown by global financial disasters that are by no means over yet. The only certainty is that we're all going to die and that includes you.

Don't bother to reply, as Michael Child's postings, and comments opportunities are worthy of proper consideration and not offensive, ignorant and fascistic abuse.

    4. Democracy may be flawed but, like capitaliasm, it works better than any other sytem. That said, I guess I owe you an apology if you are female, gainfully employed, of love thy neighbour disposition and fully mentally attuned. Your knowledge of newspapers and your perception of their political allegiance would, however, suggest a rather narrow leftish over simplistic view point. Cannot be bothered with journalistic sensationalism myself for too busy earning a crust.

  7. And as an added bonus it gets rid of pointless art galleries!

  8. Just a note on comment moderation here, if anyone thinks I should delete any comments the link on the sidebar to my profile takes you to my email address.

I should add that deleting earlier comments in a thread, can make the whole thread nonsensical.

    1. It's all rather jolly Michael in a venomous sort of way.
Unless something illegal or defamatory is published I'm OK with it.

  9. I really hate the mudslinging comments. Why do people feel they can express so much personal hatred and anti-social anger on a blog site? Occupy has opened up debates on all kinds of local issues and brought the Arlington/Tesco issue to the fore for many people who didn't know what was happening. Ignorance is not bliss, knowledge empowers.

    1. The other day (via Facebook) I asked a young lady from the camp why they oppose Tesco at Arlington, & she replied that they don't oppose it & that the protest has nothing to do with this! Then I asked her why they had moved to the roundabout on the week of the Tesco decision, & she didn't know why..

Seems like even those taking part don't know why they're doing it.

    2. Peter, I've had similar conversations with these people. So much for "Ignorance is not bliss, knowledge empowers" Christine...

    3. Sadly Christined, and her sidekick Norman Thomas, are part of Thanet's problem, not its solution!
