Smugglers, serpents and sea monsters are just some of the attractions along the Thanet coastline over the next few weeks.

As part of their programme of summer activities, the Thanet Coast Project will be holding a series of Sea Monster Tale-Trails later this month (August). Led by Scandalmongers, this storytelling walk will last for an hour and a half and will discover some of the real sea monsters living along the coast, with the opportunity to create your own monstrous creature.

The first walk takes place on Monday 24 August at Minnis Bay, Birchington, meeting near the tidal pool. The following day, the adventure moves to Dumpton Gap, Broadstairs, meeting at the bottom of the slope and, on Wednesday 26 August, the meeting point is outside the Maritime Museum at Ramsgate Harbour. All walks start at 1pm.

Thanet’s role in illegal activities of days gone by is the focus for Smugglers and Serpents: Stories from the Sea. Led by Scandalmongers, at the one and a half hour sessions, you’ll hear all about smugglers and their hunt for lost treasure.

Two sessions are being held, one on Thursday 27 August and the other on Friday 28 August. Both meet outside the Fayreness Hotel in Kingsgate at 1pm.
