LEARN CIRCUS TRICKS OF THE TRADE

If learning how to juggle or ride a unicycle has ever interested you then now is the time with FREE Circus Skills Workshops, as part of the Dippers and Dunkers Festival, brought to you by Thanet District Council.Run by Tina Carter and Steve Taylor , the workshops, aimed at anyone from 7 * 97 will give all participants the opportunity to have a go at juggling, diabolo and devilstick; ride a unicycle, walk on stilts and attempt the tight-rope as well as a bit of hula-hoop and object manipulation.

They will take place from Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 August at 10am to 12.30 and 1:30pm to 4:00pm at The Community Pharmacy Gallery, 16 Market Place, Margate Old Town, CT9 1ES. Children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult. Also, don’t forget, there will be FREE Ariel Performances over the weekend of Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August on The Piazza, Marine Drive, Margate for five minutes, starting at 11.15am until 5.15pm.

Students from Tina Carter’s AIRHEDZ will be providing aerial performances each hour over the weekend performing from her unique spiral rig. This beautiful aerial sculpture has toured across the UK and has been commissioned by the Greenwich and Docklands Festival, appearing next to Tower Bridge and in Canary Wharf, as well as being a special feature at the Circus Futures festival. Arts Development Officer, Heather Sawney said:

“Roll up, roll up and drop in for FREE circus skills and come along to The Piazza to see the Ariel Performances. There is something for everyone, any age so try and learn juggling, tight-rope walking or just sit back and watch the Ariel Performances.

”Dippers and Dunkers promises to be one of the most colourful and unique highlights of Margate’s packed programme of events so make sure you come down and see what’s going on.”
