Vere Road plans approved

Planning permission has been granted for revised plans to build 14 new
homes at Vere Road car park in Broadstairs.

The newly approved plans have been altered to provide semi-detached
units, instead of the proposed row of terraces, and for the removal of
the recycling unit following concerns about the potential noise and
disturbance.

As in the original plans, which were given consent by the council’s
Planning Committee in October 2010, the site will also include a new
toilet block and the existing car park will be resurfaced to provide
coach and car parking.  This will offer 12 coach parking spaces and 48
spaces for cars, including three disabled bays. The area will also
include a new turning area for coaches and a walkway for pedestrians.

In determining the application, full consideration was given to all of
the concerns raised by local residents, including the loss of trees and
nature conservation.

The decision notice and officer report for the application are
available to view online by visiting www.thanet.go.uk using UK Planning
under reference 10/1085.

  1. Will be interesting to see how access to this site/development is achieved, or not, after heavy snowfall, earlier this week Vere Road was a sledging area, & little else! I couldn't even pull out onto Vere Rd from Lawn Rd!
