SAFE HANDS IN DIFFICULT TIMES

If you are a postal voter your polling cards should be coming through your letter box in the next few days.
You have an important choice to make – one that will shape the next four years for us all. And due to the Coalition Government giving more power to districts and to you the voters, what happens locally is even more important than it was under the previous Labour government that wanted to control everything from Whitehall.
So what should one be looking for? Well in my mind, the most important issue is keeping council tax low and ensuring that we get value for money for all our hard pressed Thanet and Dover District tax payers.  Heaven help us if locally we got into the same mess as the country did under the Labour Government. I will be voting for responsible people who only promise what they can deliver and only deliver what we can afford.  And having seen what happened to the Nation’s finances, I would not let anyone from the Labour Party near our residents’ money.
You might also want to consider who can deliver a strong vision for East Kent – one that places our green and environmental assets at the heart of a strategy for green jobs, tourism all year round, and sustainable development. Our local conservatives want to build a stronger tourism sector – they have pledged to keep funding for tourism events; they are committed to piloting eco-developments that would be cutting edge; and they are supporting greater use of electric transport and green energy. These are all exciting developments for Thanet that will provide new jobs and new opportunities.
I am convinced that only a Conservative Council working with your local MPs can secure a strong future for East Kent and value for money for its residents. Some of the alternative outcomes would give me sleepless nights!
I hope that your Conservative Candidates can rely on your vote!

  1. You have to be joking?

The Conservative record of over spending and unwise "investments" combined with some fairly shady deals totally fails to back these claims up.

I thought only serious press releases made it here.

  2. 'Polling cards through the letter box'? Surely you mean 'postal vote ballot papers'?

This press release from the same Conservative office that told people on the 12th April the Conservative Association could help with sorting out people's postal vote applications when the closing date was the 14th April.

  3. Chatter all you like, laddie, but the record on financial management by Conservative councils, as with Conservative governments, is vastly superior to that of Labour. No more boom and bust the man said and we finished up with our largest national debt ever in peacetime.

Please tell me that you are joking Matthew Brown or are you related to the dreaded Gordon who got us into the mess we are in.
