Voices 1914-1918 raises £500.00 (five hundred pounds) for the Royal British Legion

£500.00 (five hundred pounds) was raised at WW1 Centenary event, Voices 1914-1918, on Saturday 8th November at the historic Sailors Church, Ramsgate harbour.

The church was packed and all seemed to enjoy the poignant combination of live cello and WW1 poetry readings.

Jayne Evelyn, the event's producer, would like to thank everyone who participated: members of the audience for their attendance, rapt attention and generous donations; local artist Michael Blaker for excellent illustrations on the advertising poster; cellist Charles Martin, formerly of the BBC Symphony Orchestra for his wonderful compositions and playing; fellow readers John Coverdale, Robin Fleet and Penelope Perrott for their expressive readings; Reverend Gordon Warren and Church Trustees for accommodation and support.

The poignant, memorial verses of the WW1 poets are a rich legacy of the Great War. We shall remember them and all who served. A cheque for £500.00 has been duly dispatched to The Royal British Legion HQ in London.
