Ramsgate's Summer Squall festival is running between Sat 23 - Mon 25 August this year

We've got a RIOT of creative entertainment organised over this year's August bank holiday weekend! There are some familiar slots and lots of new activity. We're excited about a project called Transformational Space, funded by Arts Council England and which will leave a lasting imprint after the festival has finished. What it is yet, we don't know, that's part of what's exciting. Each year we try something new, move things on, test another aspect of art within our local area. We try to connect with other local organisations to show off what people are doing. This year the men at the Broadstairs Shed are building us a Viking boat which will be burned on the beach at the close of the event....our theme this year is 'rebellious elements'...... BUT it can all only happen with the help of some 50 people willing to give time over the weekend to steward, move chairs, hand out leaflets, ask for donations and (some of the time) wear a hi-vis vest. If you or anyone you know in the area would be interested in helping, we'd love to hear back, even if it's only for two hours one day. You can complete a volunteer form online (follow the link from http://ramsgatearts.org/volunteer-at-the-squall or go direct to http://goo.gl/u3KGYv) If you prefer to fill in a paper form these are available from Nice Things at the Custom House on Harbour Parade (open 11-5 daily except Tuesdays). Could you please pass this on to any friends who you think might be interested in helping? There will be a meet & greet session and a volunteers' briefing event the week before the Squall. You'll be invited to find out about this year's festival, what's required of you as a volunteer and to meet the team and others who will be part of making this festival a reality. The Squall is a huge team effort and it's rewarding to know you've played a part in Ramsgate's biggest annual event. With best wishes from The Dream Team @ A Summer Squall
