END IN SIGHT TO LORRY PARKING PROBLEMS IN RAMSGATE
The council has received numerous complaints about increased numbers of lorries parking overnight on the Western Undercliff. It comes after the recent bad weather damaged the lorry parking area at the Port of Ramsgate.
The surface has broken up considerably and now has deep pot holes in it, presenting a health and safety hazard and a very real risk of damage to vehicles.
As a result, the council has closed the lorry park whilst urgent repairs are carried out. Orders have now been placed and it is expected that the work will be carried out around Easter.
In the meantime, lorries are instead using the Western Undercliff for parking.
Cllr. John Kirby, Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services and Ramsgate Marina, said: "I appreciate that the current position is annoying for local residents around the Western Undercliff, but I'd like to take this opportunity to reassure them that this is only a short-term issue. We will be carrying out urgent repairs to the lorry park at the Port of Ramsgate as quickly as we can, and once this work is done, those lorries will be moved off the Western Undercliff."

If you believe that you will believe anything. TDC has done nothing to alleviate the problem over the years and i hear via the harbour rumour mill that they need to spend £250,000 but they are going to spend £35000 on a little bit of patching. As always with tdc too little too late.
ReplyDeleteMarch 18th...Still nothing done to fix this issue. Way to hope right on the problem. TDC, you have let us down once again.
